Flesh and Blood review

The saying blood is thicker than water is definitely applied to Kate Cotter’s short film Flesh and Blood.

We follow Peter, whose mother has abandoned him and his father has hit the bottle big time.

Based on the story Santa’s Helper by John Nicholson, this is a cautionary tale of inner demons manifest in everyday life and bringing someone down.

Flesh and Blood has a documentary feel to it, as we track Peter during his daily life and new evening job.

More of an urban drama than outright horror, Peter’s broken home is the source for his unhappiness but this is now bleeding into his new delivery job.

The ending does feel quite abrupt with Flesh and Blood not seeming to have a full resolution to the issues between father and son.

An uneven affair.
