The Barber Brothers are starting to become renowned for their backwoods horror tales.
Whether it’s the chilling Go Back, or Get Out of There or brand new short Shelter Half, there’s something for everyone.
We open in spring 1976, as a naturalist is documenting the disappearance of a mother black bear out in the woods. Let’s face it, if something has taken down a mother black bear, it’s probably not to be trifled with.
As with all of the Barbers’ work, Shelter Half is slickly photographed and looks incredible. At a brisk 2 minutes 55 seconds it also crams in as much story as it can, while also leaving potential for further expansion.
Effective at building tension and nice jump scare to boot, Shelter Half is an entertaining, brisk watch.
Shelter Half screens as part of Soho Horror Film Festival 2023.
