Flappy (Soho Horror Film Fest 2023) review

I get the feeling that car thieves don’t really plan for flappy flags to be their downfall during their crime spree.

Much in the same vein as Rubber, y’know the film about a killer car tyre, Flappy, the new short from Darcy Conlan seems to revel in its absurdity.

Flappy’s greatest strength is that it legitimatises the threat, and carries a smidge of tension, as our criminal is stalked by our wavy friend. Couple this with its supernatural ability to control cars, and you have something quite unique.

Bizarre and engrossing, Flappy is a whole new kind of threat, well to car thieves anyway.

Flappy screens as part of Soho Horror Film Festival 2023.
