The Doll (Bite Night 2023) review

Dolls, much like clowns are never good news in horror films.

Just for quick trivia, please name a good doll within the genre? It’s a struggle, right.

From Chucky to Annabelle to now M3gan, the doll is fast becoming the top dog in the genre again.

Thomas Elliott Griffith’s short The Doll pits a woman against an old possessed doll.

What we didn’t know going in, is that the doll has poisoned the woman’s mind to the point of no return.

While the doll narrative is the overarching one in this short, there is a wider commentary on how a stale relationship can get to a point where the couple literally wants to kill each other.

There are hints at a wider plot here, and even though there are a couple of laughs here, The Doll turns dark very quickly.

The Doll screens as part of Bite Night Film Festival 2023.
