Night Walks: Edith and the Empty (Bite Night 2023) review

The first episode of Robyn August’s Night Walks series focuses on a woman who gets more than she bargained for after feeding an unknown creature in her small town.

Edith, the lady in question, clearly has some issues with loneliness and figures that feeding this thing, will give her some sort of connection.

Her husband hasn’t been as mobile since his hip replacement, which leads her to sneak out in the night for some me time.

Told like a fairytale, Edith and the Empty carries an air of melancholy about it.

Edith goes to some dark places to satisfy this creature; especially if you are a dog lover.

The beauty of this short is that it is more in the mind than on the screen, with understated performances allowing your imagination to run wild.

Night Walks: Edith and the Empty screens as part of Bite Night Film Festival 2023.
