Blood Line (Toronto After Dark Film Fest) review

Anyone icky about blood probably needs to take a backseat for Richard Rutter’s short Blood Line, screening as part of the Toronto After Dark Film Festival.

We find a daughter and father with rather an intense relationship, where it feels like they are trapped in each other’s worlds, without escape.

The girl is having a burgeoning sexual awakening, whereas her father has a penchant for blood if you catch my drift. Blood Line asks how you can escape an abusive relationship when you are bonded by blood, in more ways than one.

A chance meeting at the laundromat gives her a way out, but will her father allow her to escape?

Blood Line tries to tell a raw, original vampire tale, masquerading as a father-daughter drama.

This short is unabashedly queer and has plenty of bite to keep viewers entertained.

Blood Line shows blood is thicker than water.

Blood Line screens as part of Toronto After Dark Film Festival 2023.
