Mystery Box (Toronto After Dark Film Fest) review

I definitely think it’s an age thing, but I just don’t get the whole mystery box phenomenon.

Maybe I’m just too cautious but I want to know what I’m buying before I open it.

In Tomas Morrison’s short Mystery Box, we follow a character who receives a mystery box from the dark web – what could go wrong?

When the character is talking through what he needs to do to get onto the dark web, it should send alarm bells ringing to anyone who may have thought about it.

Turns out his mystery box has photos of him sleeping, which again – red flag!

Mystery Box is a cautionary tale with a real edge of suspense and hints of escalation as the credits roll.

Mystery Box screens as part of Toronto After Dark Film Festival 2023.
