Trying for a baby can be a stressful time for couples. There is the worry that you may not be able to get pregnant and even in some cases, people think it just wasn’t meant to be.
Michael Squid’s short Janelle’s Baby focuses on said, the titular character who is trying to become a mother and at the start has just faced another setback.
Janelle refuses to accept her situation and wants to keep trying, as this is her one goal; a point her husband doesn’t truly understand.
Squid’s short is an intimate and haunting character, looking at a woman so desperate to bring another life into this world she may go to extreme length to realist it.
Janelle’s Baby is visceral and haunting with a real gut punch.
