Good Boy (Frightfest 2023) review

I think Good Boy is probably the weirdest film screening at this year’s Frightfest.

After meeting on a dating app Sigrid, gets the chance to see Christian’s home. What she didn’t bargain for is finding out he has a ‘dog’ and by that I mean a human dressed in a dog suit who is being treated as such. Perfectly normal behaviour.

Instead of running for the hills she decides to stick around and the tension only builds towards the boiling pot of a conclusion.

We get glimpses of what is happening behind the dog suit, but Good Boy does well at keeping its cards largely close to their chest.

While this is about the person in the dog suit, this is as much a character study of Christian with hints of his life before meeting Sigrid.

Good Boy has a real nasty streak and don’t be expecting a cut-and-dried conclusion.

Strap yourself in, Good Boy is a bumpy ride.

Good Boy screens as part of Frightfest 2023.

  1. So “don’t expect a cut and dried conclusion”, huh?

I watched this turd, and that’s EXACTLY what I got!

Right from the beginning I had a huge hunch what this was going to end up being, and thought to myself, “If this movie turns out to be like this, then it’s the worst ripoff since ‘The Village’.”

Unfortunately, I was dead on. My guess was all too correct. As a result, this movie was the safest, most predictable ending they could have chosen. This thing was absolute trash.
