#Bossbabe (Fantasia Fest 2023) review

I must admit, and maybe I’m not keeping with social trend but I hadn’t a clue what a Bossbabe was before watching this short.

Kassy Gascho’s film really focuses in on the absurdity of influence culture and just how vapid it is.

We focus on a group of entitled influencers working for a company called Bevlon (do you get it?), whose world is disrupted when a new girl is brought into their clique.

In a similar vein to Heathers and Tragedy Girls, an unfortunate accident occurs and our team of influencers must figure out what to do to stay out of prison.

Gascho’s short is sprinkled with dark humour and feels akin to Bodies, Bodies, Bodies, exposing how teens deal with real consequences in the social media era.

#BossBabe screens as part of Fantasia Fest 2023.
