Up On The Housetop (Fantasia Fest 2023) review

As one of the songs from Anna and the Apocalypse once said, Christmas is a time for family.

Sadly, in some cases that family could be fractured or downright damaged from a previous trauma; and so we come to crowdfunded horror short Up On The Housetop.

We follow four siblings who are reuniting following the deaths of their parents, but they quickly become prey to a sinister yuletide force.

Co-directed by Dakota Millett and Michael Fischer, this short does a good job of showing a sibling bond even in the face of something horrific. They have their own quirks and insecurities, which quickly manifest in chaos.

There is real dark humour sprinkled throughout this short, and just when it couldn’t get anymore bizarre it just does!

A horror comedy with plenty of action, Up On The Housetop is bound to be a crowd pleaser.

Up On The Housetop screens as part of Fantasia Fest 2023.
