We all know or knew one or two people who were the life and soul of the party.
In Louise Groult’s short the titular Gertrude and Yvan or those people.
In this case though Gertrude and Yvan after a chance meeting, only seem to exist just to annoy the other one at this party.
Their game of oneupmanship does take some dark turns, and it becomes strangely engrossing. I would compare the tone to Sick of Myself, which was released earlier this year.
This isn’t your average genre short, but you won’t be able to take your eyes off it.
