The Leprechaun series is set for a brand new reboot, helmed by director Felipe Vargas.
Vargas’ portfolio includes the excellent short Milk Teeth, and Lionsgate have now tasked him with bringing the Leprechaun into the modern day.
Script duties go to Mike Van Waes, whose work includes script for an untitled Wizard of Oz project.
Lionsgate Motion Picture Group has tasked Vargas and Van Waes with a fresh and modern reimagining that will attract new fans and old.
For those keeping up, the Leprechaun series currently boasts 8 movies, with the last of those being the surprisingly solid Leprechaun Returns in 2018, directed by Steven Kostanski.
We have seen the Leprechaun go to Vegas, space, and twice to the hood, plus an ill-fated prequel from the WWE; the question is can Lionsgate strike the right balance between horror and comedy in this new entry?
Leprechaun has always been at its best when it mixes gory effects with comedy, because it can never really be an out-an-out horror film.
The series also boasts some of the first credits for actors such as Jennifer Aniston and appearances from well-known genre faces Caroline Williams, Brendan Fletcher and Clint Howard plus Ice-T…
The Leprechaun was last portrayed by Linden Porco, having previously been played by Warwick Davis from 6 films and Hornswaggle for Origins.

I’m anxious to see how this turns out. Hopefully they do a Golden good job with it. I wonder who will be the Leprechaun? 🍀

Get the feeling they will want a clean slate unless they ask Warwick to cameo

I’m hoping they ask Warwick. I think Leprechaun fans would be very happy to see him do a cameo. I just hope the movie is good, we’ll see how it goes. 🍀
