The Third Saturday in October Part V review

We’re all ears when we hear about potentially the next big Halloween-themed horror series.

In terms of The Third Saturday in October, we have seen what feels like a concept become a reality. Here we have the fifth part of a ‘series’, with its original released simultaneously to help fill in the blanks.

It’s such a clever idea and leaves a wide open space to explore further if the films prove to be hits.

I was told that it’s best to watch the fifth part first then go back to the first one, so here we are reviewing Part V. This does recall the days of VHS where often you maybe didn’t get to see films in order, and only years later with DVD and Blu Ray boxsets do genre fans watch the sequentially.

Instead of solely focusing on a group of protagonists, Burleson makes the choice to equally focus on the escapades of our killer Jack Harding, who dons a Halloween mask and showcases so creative ways to kill his victims.

He appears to be choosing his victims after arriving back in this small Alabama village in a hearse nonetheless, before getting to a group of friends who are gathering for the big football game on the television.

Part V is clearly made on a low budget but really attempts to elevate its story, given Harding a Michael Myers-esque quality in some parts but then a sprinkle of Leatherface in others.

It doesn’t give everything away and certainly will encourage viewers to check out the first part to get a more rounded story of the Third Saturday in October universe.

Whisper it, but we may have another Halloween icon in the offing with Jack Harding.

The Third Saturday in October Part V is available now from Dark Sky Films.
