The couple who we open on for Benjamin Brewer’s horror short A Folded Ocean seems so hopelessly in love.
Their playful nature as well as licking and biting for affection are quite endearing.
After a weird dream, the woman wakes up with a new skin condition, which puzzles her and her partner.
Given the director’s background in visual effects, it’s no surprise his craft is utilised here with some very icky body horror effects, which recall something like Society.
Despite the bizarre body horror, there is wry humour here as the couple attempt to navigate this new, extra-close intimacy they’ve achieved.
I can guarantee you won’t see anything like A Folded Ocean anytime soon.
A truly fascinating watch.
