I am always fascinated by the ingenuity of stop-motion films, especially in an age of CGI.
In Jack Nop’s Absolution, Parsin, we follow a haunted older man, who appears to be having surreal visions.
His attempts to escape this waking nightmare are proving ineffective so far, and the darkness he has unleashed only gets more surreal.
We have goat people, and talking bulls, clearly, there is some kind of witchcraft going on here.
Without giving anything away, Absolution, Parsin does have ties to a fairly well-documented witchcraft case which open up a whole other understanding of this short film.
Absolution, Parsin plays like a waking nightmare, with a haunting, minimalistic score soaring throughout.
Fans of supernatural horror and inventive stop-motion techniques will lap this up.
Absolution, Parsin, screens as part of Salem Horror Fest 2023.
