In The Flesh (Overlook Film Fest 2023) review

It feels like Tracey’s life has taken a turn, as we watch a montage of her pleasuring herself in the bath; and find out shortly after that this is the only eventful moment to make her diary.

Her daily routine is turned upside down when raw sewage burst from her taps; what will she do now?

After zero replies from the apartment group chat, Tracey does to investigate in the dark and creepy basement.

What was initially comical turns quite sinister in a split second, as she thinks she sees someone in the basement.

There is a commentary from filmmaker Daphne Gardner about women not being listened to by men, with the maintenance man for the apartments even blaming the sewage leak on a stray tampon.

Tracey starts to become sick, but is this a result of the sewage water or is there something else going on with her body?

In The Flesh has a fever dream quality to it, as Tracey’s situation gets more heightened and very messy.

In The Flesh screens as part of the Overlook Film Festival 2023.
