Vibrator Girl (SXSW Film Fest 2023) review

There are plenty of addictions out in the world with some becoming more prevalent in post-pandemic times.

When alone and locked in their homes some would source pleasure in sex toys such as vibrators, which is part of the initial basis for the aptly titled Vibrator Girl.

The question is what would you do if your vibrator started talking to you?

We find that Marianne, after a visit to the doctor confides about all of her perceived body flaws which have led to this solitary sexual experience.

She is recommended to go to a yoga class with a twist to try to get rid of these occurrences which now include hair loss and poor skin.

Vibrator Girl feels like a commentary on addiction and how it can destroy us inside and out.

There is some bizarre and surreal imagery which oddly fits with the story and by its conclusion you may even think – yeah I thought that might happen…

Vibrator Girl screens as part of SXSW Film Festival 2023.

Vibrator Girl is directed by Kara Straitand, produced by Morgane Ciot and Zoe Mintz from the production company Zorg Productions.
