For many men and some women, are seemingly cursed with pattern baldness and faced with a dilemma – stick with the hair they have left or be bald.
This is the premise of Raymon Hilkman’s bonkers short The Receder, which sees a young man toying with shaving his head before a night out.
What he didn’t bargain for is a hole in his head with its consciousness telling him why it’s not a good idea. If you’re looking for a comparison, the closest I could think of was Frank Henenlotter’s equally bonkers 1988 feature Brain Damage.
Played as more of a dark comedy, while minorly triggering some of us who have less hair than we used to have, its all playful B-movie fun. The main message is to be proudly bald no matter what the voices in your head say.
Look out for The Receder when it debuts on Alter’s YouTube channel in May.
