When a plane ride through the Bermuda Triangle leaves a group of survivors pitted against an unknown evil, sides must be taken to survive.
Bermuda Island is the latest output from the production company Mahal Empire. Their speciality lies in low-budget horror and action features, with this film being a mix of both.
Interestingly, a good chunk of the opening is spent on the plane, as we get to know our group, but once the plane goes down the real story shifts into gear.
Bermuda Island’s strength is in its action sequences and some excellent practical effects. We also have some interesting antagonists who are hunting our survivors.
Some of the characters are a bit one-note, although in the most part they are quickly disposed of so you needn’t worry too much about them.
It does play with some interesting ideas and deserves props for going for a nihilistic ending, where it would have been so easy to wrap things up in a bow.
Bermuda Island will certainly find an audience with fans of low budget action horror films.
Bermuda Island is available now from Gravitas Ventures.
