During the late 1990s, the slasher subgenre was revived with older franchises such as Halloween and Child’s Play getting a new lease of life.
The result was Ronny Yu’s Bride of Chucky, taking the killer doll in a more comedic direction without skimping on the blood.
Location
The highway on the way to Hackensack.
What happens?
After discovering a strange smell in the back of the van, David opens a large box only to find the corpse of Jade’s uncle Chief Warren Kincaid with a face full of nails.
Now paranoid that Jade and or Jesse could be killers after all he grabs a gun, in case they try to attack. He pulls the gun on the couple as they start to respond to his jittery behaviour and they pull off the highway.
David reveals the body of Kincaid and Jade and Jesse turn on each other, and then the police see the disturbance at make a beeline for the truck. With their plan set to fail Chucky and Tiffany spring into action, pulling guns on everyone. In shock, David steps out of the truck right into the highway where he is obliterated by an oncoming arctic lorry.
Why is it so effective?
The reason David’s demise is so effective is the fact it comes out of nowhere plus it happens so fast it will take you a moment to process what has just happened. With some death scenes, you may think there is a chance the victim could survive, but this simply isn’t up for debate here.
This type of kill would also be used two years later in the original Final Destination, showing that in Chucky’s words a true classic never goes out of style.
Where can I watch the film?
