Crowdfunder set to launch for Lovecraftian horror Voidcaller

A crowdfunding campaign is set to launch for brand new Lovecraftian horror Voidcaller.

The story draws heavily from writer H.P Lovecraft’s Cthulhu Mythos, especially the stories
”The Color Out of Space” and ”The Call of Cthulhu”.

The film centres around a group of people who all wake up with no memory. Soon they
realize they’ve been part of something sinister on a cosmic scale …

Voidcaller is a black-and-white horror film, made on a slim budget of about $5,000. It was
shot in 16 days over a period of a year in the industrial settings of Gothenburg, Sweden.
It’s both a trippy hallucinatory feast, as well as a body horror-extravaganza.

Writer/Director Nils Alatalo commented,

“I wrote and prepped most of this film while I studied screenwriting, and later while doing all sorts
of odd jobs within the swedish film industry. The idea came from so called ”pod people”-movies,
like ”Invasion of the Body Snatchers”. The concept of people being controlled by aliens sounded
very Lovecraftian to me, so I wanted to bring the Cthulhu mythology into a ”pod people”-movie,
and ”Voidcaller” was the result.

“I’ve tried to write a film that is always changing, so hopefully every ten minutes or so some new
and weird element is introduced. Then during production we always tried to come up with fun ways
to shoot each scene, though that part was sometimes tricky since we didn’t have much time. But
those two elements I hope will help make ”Voidcaller” an engaging and fun experience.

“The best thing a no-budget movie can do, I think, is to be strange. So I wanted to make an outside-
the-box movie, like ”Phantasm” or ”Tetsuo The Iron Man”. The kind of obscure no-budget movie

that makes you go ”Holy shit, I can’t believe they did that!” That’s exactly what big-budget movies
can’t do.”
