Short film lineup announced for the Bloody Flicks Awards 2023

The short film lineup has been announced for the Bloody Flicks Awards, which takes place on Saturday 25 February 2023, at the Boiler Works in Stoke-on-Trent.

The selections include shorts from all over the world including countries such as the United States, Canada, Germany, Netherlands, France, Spain and Sweden.

The lineup is as follows –

#1 (Dir. Dante Lundin) – A broke comic shop owner and an obsessive collector fight over a rare issue one comic book.

B()xed (Dir William David Knight) – After being hand selected for a secret CSIS mission, Adam is thrown into an impossible scenario that leaves him in a ‘1-on-1’ with the world’s first fully Artificial Intelligent super computer.

Property For Sale (Dir. Ronny Strehmann) – A property for sale carries a dark secret.

Red Wash (Dir. Philip Ledeboer) – 25-year-old Luca moves into a new apartment, to escape her wild nightlife in Amsterdam, but starts seeing strange appearances in her new home, which seem to indicate a dark past of the house. Or, is the dark past hers?

Echo’s Voice Box (Dir. Alex Sultoon) – A singer is terrified of losing her voice and thinks someone is out to steal it.

Sore Loser (Dir. Hugo Breant) – Pierre never thought a simple visit of his girlfriends’ friends would turn into an awful game of hide and seek.

La Nueva (The Newcomer) (Dir. Ivan Villamel) – Maria is the new teacher who arrives at an old religious school. On her first day, she will have to teach a group of rebellious kids who are part of a punishment class. An unexpected event will turn the classroom into a real hell.

Sour Love (Dir. Cindy Stenberg) – A dark and quirky girl falls in love, and tries everything to get his attention, even crime.

The Wild Roots (Dir. Nicolas Millot) – Adam, a young hunter, is convinced that danger lurks in a forest plagued by strange phenomena. But when one of his friends is found dead, this fear becomes a certainty. Adam returns to the woods, determined to find the source of this threat.

Everyone Forgot (Dir. Theo Kai Marlow) – “You have 0 (zero) new notifications…”

It’s Lily’s birthday and nobody seems to care. Desperate for some form of recognition on her special day, Lily turns to a handyman service for company.

The River (Dir. Liam Banks) – Do you know the legend of JENNY GREENTEETH?

The Rage Part 2 (Dir. Joshua Cleave) – A chemical scientist (Will) and a small team of ex-soldiers have been sent to investigate the bio lab where a deadly virus was accidentally released.

Paper Sun (Dir. Peter Harper) – Isolated from the outside world, Tom spends his years caring for his terminally-ill wife, Ivy. As death approaches, Tom must make a life-changing decision to revisit their secret past in the hope of saving his one true love.

Bushwhacker Blues (Dir. James Campbell) – Luke and Butch Walters stumble upon an unconscious Preacher deep within the Black Hills of South Dakota. They decide to take him captive and do unspeakable things to him – only it seems they may have bitten off more than they can chew.

All You Can Eat (Dir. Kieran Reed) – A young waitress at a fast food diner has a bad feeling about things going on behind the chrome and neon facade of the diner. She finally believes she has the proof she needs to bring this secret to light, but unseen evil forces are unleashed in a blood thirsty attempt to stop her.

Serialkiller (Dir. Dwight Darko) – Ted is obsessed with horror movie legends and wants to be a legend himself. Ted wants to be a serial killer. The young Myra wants to support him and offers himself as a victim. Does Ted have the guts?

Tap Tap Tap (Dir. Steven Hutchinson) – While alone in his flat one night, a man starts to hear a persistent tapping coming from behind the walls. Is it all in his head or is something more sinister at play?

Familiar (Dir. David J. Ellison) – It is 1942, in the dark woods of Pennsylvania, Richard Mason is the Familiar to a hideous ancient vampiric creature living in the bowels of an isolated mansion.
Every day he must bring a new victim for it to feed on and tolerate its physical and mental abuse.

Bloody Flicks Awards, Festival Director Paul Downey commented,

“Whittling down our entries to this lineup was no mean feat, with shorts and features submitted from all over the globe.

“I feel this lineup has something for every horror fan, with the slow burn of Paper Sun, the action in The Rage 2, the twists of Everyone Forgot plus so much more.

“We’re really looking forward to returning to a physical festival for the first time in 3 years.”
