Smile (Soho Horror Film Festival) review

Looks can be deceived, as sometimes a smile can hide a multitude of hurt and pain.

We open horror short Smile as a twenty-something girl is dictated down the phone by her mother about looking more positive in every day life.

Surely there is more to her constant grimace? Is it mental health problems or something more supernatural?

Smile conjures up some haunting images and a real slow burn of dread throughout its short runtime.

This kind of twisted segment wouldn’t feel out of place in the Conjuring universe.

Smile screened as part of Soho Horror Film Festival 2022.
