I, Adonis (Soho Horror Film Festival) review

When your whole persona is based on your physical appearance, what do you do when that starts to change?

This is a very valid dilemma given the image-based society we live in now, where a person’s looks and physique can be instantly upgraded via filters on social media apps.

Nicky is obsessed with getting stronger and even weighs out all his meals to ensure he’s eating the right things all the time. But where does this obsession with fitness come from?

When he is told he has gained fat and then drastically loses his figure Nicky begins to panic and painful memories from the past start to resurface.

I, Adonis balances its psychological edge with some disturbing imagery and asks questions about self-esteem and how fragile confidence can be in the face of past trauma.

I, Adonis screens as part of Soho Horror Film Festival 2022.
