What Moves The Dead by T. Kingfisher review

Author T. Kingfisher follows up the dark fantasy of Nettle & Bone, with gothic thriller What Moves The Dead.

In another period piece, Kingfisher follows a war veteran, scarred by their experiences who gets more than they bargained for when revisiting a childhood friend.

While quite short at just under 170 pages, What Moves The Dead does some excellent world building and really leaves the reader wondering, yet intrigued about the causes of strange incidents at a large, isolated mansion.

Kingfisher pulls on inspirations such as the classic ghost story for imagery whilst tapping into environmental horror and melds them together for an original and creepy read.

The author once again shows their diversity in tackling different stories and characters with layers.

Kingfisher’s diversity must be applauded and What Moves the Dead is another winner.

What Moves the Dead is now available in paperback and e-book formats from T. Kingfisher.
