Jack and Chloe are having a rough time of it when they set off on a holiday to ease their woes.
They sadly lost a baby and their relationship, especially intimately, hasn’t been the same since.
When they meet a mysterious man on the beach, he thrusts an unknown drug into their faces which starts a cycle of craziness and violence the pair have no control over.
As someone who has never sampled Class A drugs, I’m guessing this is the extreme version of what can happen with overstimulation – well to a point.
The interesting part of Do Not Disturb is that the filmmakers make no attempt to make Jack and Chloe likeable and we are very much in the anti-hero column right from the outset.
This is a character study as much as a messed up tale of excess gone horribly wrong.
Do Not Disturb is also extremely violent and takes everyday people to some dark places, with some wince inducing moments.
While you feel there is never going to be a happy ending for the pair, it is fascinating to watch their disintegration.
Do Not Disturb plays as part of Grimmfest 2022.
