Deep Fear (Frightfest 2022) review

Now we may have already seen a creepy horror film set in the French catacombs, with As Above So Below, but it doesn’t hold a candle to Deep Fear.

Gregory Beghin’s short and sharp feature, has three friends take a trip into the catacombs as a last hurrah with one of them set to enrol in the army soon after.

It goes without saying that they get more than they bargained for, as they appear to be hunted by what turns out to be a long-kept secret from the Second World War.

Deep Fear takes a while to warm up, but once it shifts gear it contains some visceral and suspenseful sequences.

Beghin uses the setting to his advantage to create something truly chilling.

Deep Fear definitely lives up to its title.

Deep Fear screens at Arrow Video Frightfest 2022.
