Paracinema returns to Derby this September

The Paracinema cult film festival will return to the Derby Quad between 23 and 26 September 2022.

Paracinema Cult Film Festival is back with its usual eclectic mix of films and events that blend the horror, sci-fi and fantasy genres with Eurospy revivals, 80s Giallo, the legendary Paracinema Film Quiz and Puppet shows!

They will welcome special guest Sean Hogan (The Devil’s Business, author of England’s Screaming) for a Q&A about his new book Twilight’s Last Screaming with a 35mm screening of The Parallax View.

Old friends of Paracinema, Jake West and Marc Morris from Nucleus Films are bringing Too Beautiful To Die (1988) and, in a re-release preview, 1974’s Christopher Lee/Joan Collins film Dark Places.

Midnight Peepshow, a new portmanteau film, from directors Andy Edwards, Airell Anthony Hayles, Ludovica Musumeci and (pulling double duty at Paracinema) Jake West. Jake and Airell Anthony Hayles will be introducing a special late show preview of this film.

Other very special shows include one of only a very small handful of UK screenings for the new Diabolik movie. This new adaptation of the classic comic books (made into a movie in 1966 by the legend Mario Bava) blasts onto Paracinema screens on Sunday 25th. Saturday night sees us welcome the latest film from Peter Strickland Flux Gormet.

Paracinema will also offer four programmes of amazing shorts from all over the world.

Last but by no means least, they will be welcoming the Pop Up Puppet Cinema to Paracinema. The very special Puppet show recreates your beloved cult movies as a 20 minute Punch and Judy style show! They will be at Paracinema on Saturday to lovingly recreate Back To The Future and A Nightmare On Elm Street.
