UK release date for In A Violent Nature confirmed

Here’s Johnny! A seriously nasty new horror icon is born in Chris Nash’s acclaimed IN A VIOLENT NATUREset for release in UK & Irish cinemas from 12 July.

When a locket is removed from a collapsed fire tower in the woods that entombs the rotting corpse of Johnny, a vengeful spirit spurred on by a horrific 60-year-old crime, his body is resurrected and becomes hellbent on retrieving it. The undead golem hones in on the group of vacationing teens responsible for the theft and proceeds to methodically slaughter them one by one in his mission to get it back – along with anyone in his way.

US top ten hit IN A VIOLENT NATURE, the groundbreaking and gruesome debut feature from writer and director Chris Nash (ABCs OF DEATH 2), introduces the masked and murderous Johnny, who’ll stop at nothing to retrieve a precious locket.

As well as celebrity endorsements from the likes of horror maestro Stephen King, Shaun of the Dead director Edgar Wright, actor Patton Oswalt and scream queen Barbara Crampton, the film is a hit with audiences and a critical smash. Screen Rant describes it as ‘gut-churning’, while Collider says “those seeking hyper-violent horror will find it to be a bold and bloody ride”. Horror Buzz suggests “the kill scenes are unbelievably brutal” and RogerEbert.com says, “one of the most brutal kills I’ve ever seen in a horror film.” Metro UK warns that the film is so disturbing it is “making cinemagoers physically ill.”

With IN A VIOLENT NATURE Nash has fashioned something truly extraordinary – a film that manages to be brilliantly original while at the same time paying homage to ‘80s horror classics like the Friday 13th series and Evil Dead, as a group of young campers are mercilessly stalked in the woods. Told from the point of view of the killer, it features some astoundingly orchestrated and intensely gory kills that have to be seen to be believed – including the now infamous, ‘Pretzel Kill.’

Beautifully shot in the Canadian wilderness, with a nerve-wracking eerie sound design, IN A VIOLENT NATURE is the shocker to see in 2024. Devilishly entertaining, excruciatingly tense, brutally shocking and daringly different, it stands out from other modern horror films like an axe in a cutlery drawer.
